For the second consecutive year, Benin is becoming a key player in the digital revolution in Africa. Public and private sector actors are meeting for 7 days to develop the digital ecosystem in Benin, but not only there, as this year the event will be above all international. The cradle of humanity is a young continent due to its population and very creative in terms of entrepreneurship. More than a Beninese event, it is an African event that was intended this year, placing Benin as a locomotive and convergence point for African energies. All this is possible thanks to the support of the Smart Africa alliance which brings together 24 countries and a market of 600 million people.
Afro Tech is also the heart of this event since it will be the moment to take stock and highlight Beninese and African perspectives. An opportunity to see and marvel at African smart cities like Abidjan and Kigali for example. Models for African smart cities will be designed during SENUM.
Fintech will also be on the agenda, which is not surprising when we know that mobile payment was born in Africa. Fintech is merely the culmination of this.
It is impossible to talk about digital without mentioning African startups. So what financing model for these actors with flexible business models? It will also be the moment for them to build and perfect their networks. Network means digital identity: a theme that will be addressed, discussed, and thought through during this event.
E-gouv and E-santé are also part of the program. Africa constantly showcases its creativity and the intellectual wealth of its population, and it is the moment to see how much these two themes are developed in Benin and more broadly on the continent.
eSport joins SENUM because the young and connected population is very active in this field and does not hesitate for a single second to challenge the world’s best pro gamers as we mention here. All African countries see a part of their youth engaging in eSport, a driver of entrepreneurship and growth in the world.
The African agricultural revolution: a theme and a competition during this event. Agriculture is a driver of growth.
What better than a competition to make this event inclusive and creative. Not one but two competitions will take place. The first, e-AGRI challenge, will focus on innovative solutions for agriculture in Benin. Digital technology, through tools like IoT, allows for the automation of certain tasks performed by farmers. The second, DANXOME e-ART EXPO, will focus on digital art: digital creation geniuses will let their artistic souls speak to create a work of art and be one of the 10 winners whose works will be exhibited during the AFRO E-ART EXPO.
An event that aims to be unifying but also visionary by building the cornerstones of an African digital future.
