Gong.io Inc. turns sales conversations into actionable data. Based in the United States and rooted in Israel’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, the company develops a platform available at gong.io. Its guiding principle is to connect what is said in exchanges with prospects and customers to what is recorded in sales management tools. It primarily serves business-to-business sales organizations, with use cases that also extend to account managers and customer relationship teams.

From conversations to sales intelligence

Gong was founded in 2015 by Amit Bendov and Eilon Reshef. The two entrepreneurs started with an observation: sales leaders have access to numerous metrics, but limited visibility into the actual content of the exchanges that determine a sale. Notes entered into customer relationship management software, or CRM, remain selective and depend on each employee’s habits.

The company initially developed its offering around recording, transcribing and analyzing conversations. It then expanded its scope to revenue intelligence, a category that combines an understanding of interactions, deal tracking and revenue management. This evolution places it at the intersection of sales software, data analysis and artificial intelligence applied to business functions.

A platform for understanding and managing sales

The solution brings together information from sources including calls, video conferences, emails and the CRM, depending on the integrations and permissions in place. AI models transcribe and analyze exchanges to highlight the topics discussed, objections, next steps or certain risk signals. Users can find a specific passage, read a summary and track an opportunity’s progress without listening to every conversation again.

For managers, Gong also serves as a coaching tool: conversations become a resource for supporting sales representatives and sharing practices. The platform includes sales forecasting features through Gong Forecast and tools for managing prospecting and follow-up activities through Gong Engage. The aim is to connect observations from exchanges to everyday decisions, rather than simply produce dashboards.

Its business model is based on selling SaaS software to businesses. The service’s value depends in particular on the quality of the connected data, its integration into internal processes and adoption by teams.

What’s next?

The development of generative AI opens up more possibilities for Gong in summarization, search and writing assistance. The challenge will be to turn these capabilities into reliable recommendations and measurable operational gains, in a market where CRM vendors are also strengthening their AI features. Conversation privacy, informing participants, access management and keeping analysis errors under control will remain critical. For its customers, automation therefore does not eliminate the need for either sales judgment or rigorous data governance.
