As every Thursday, we get to know an entrepreneur’s journey. And this one made me smile. I admit, if I had seen him anywhere other than in this lecture hall, I wouldn’t have believed that this model existed: Henri Seydoux, founder of Parrot.
A leader in the field of drones and connected objects, Parrot is the result of an adventure that might also make you smile. Very pragmatic, he seized every opportunity that fell into his hands. For him, there are moments when you shouldn’t think too much and just seize the moment. To hear him tell it, there is no mystery to entrepreneurship. Anyone can do it. Moreover, as he says:
“The big guys who succeeded are not Nobel Prize winners.”
It’s not the kind of thing you discover in a book or a job description. It’s about doing “your thing”. He discovered quite early on that he didn’t like the medical studies he was doing and decided to move towards software development.
I didn’t discover until much later that he came from a wealthy family, the Seydoux. But at no point in his biography did I hear or sense it in his words. You might say that’s due to my lack of knowledge of French celebrity news.
No matter, he exudes simplicity and a total lack of fuss. It even seems simpler to be an entrepreneur when he tells it. It’s especially with this kind of journey that we realize that sometimes the success of an idea, of a concept, depends on very little: sometimes one very last attempt to get there.
Enough words, listen instead to his story and you will understand what I am talking about.
